Announcement of CEO change

Establishment Chair Sir Brian Roche recently announced the resignation of our Chief Executive Officer, Tania Heyrick:

We regret to announce the resignation of Tania Heyrick as Chief Executive Officer of Tupu Tonu.
Tania has been hugely committed to Tupu Tonu on both a personal and professional level since day one. The Board are very grateful for the leadership Tania has provided over her tenure and what has been achieved, and respect Tania’s decision to leave, reflecting her desire to spend more time with her whānau.
Tania has been instrumental in the set up and establishment of Tupu Tonu taking it from concept to reality. Her service to others is a great example to us all.
Richard Westbury (Chief Investment Officer) will be acting CEO until the board identifies a replacement. Going forward the Board and management team remain committed to building on the progress made since establishment.

We will keep you posted on any further updates on the CEO position in future pānui. In the meantime, we will be continuing on with all of our regular mahi – if you’d like to talk with us or arrange a meeting, please feel free to reach out to our team (email: info@tuputonu.co.nz).

New investment

We’re excited to announce the recent acquisition of the Paihia Maritime Building. As many of you will know, the Paihia Maritime Building is home to several local businesses. It is centrally located in a popular part of the tourist hub of Paihia, which attracts many tourists every year.

We are currently focused on getting to know our tenants, and we will keep you posted on any developments in coming months.

This represents our first investment in the coastal Bay of Islands area and brings the total amount invested to $60m.

We have some exciting new investment opportunities in the works and hope to make more announcements in coming weeks.

Tukua (disbursements) update

In recent weeks, we have been meeting with many hapū and rōpu who were recipients of funding in our first Tukua (disbursements) round. We hope to be able to share some of their stories in coming weeks, because there is some great mahi going on.

We are currently in the process of reviewing the outcomes of our first  round and assessing feedback we have received to date.

On our Tukua page you can find high-level information on who received funding, as well as a portal to provide feedback. We’d appreciate any further feedback by 6 October, so we can begin preparations for the second round.

We’re currently planning to open the second round later this year, and hope to make further announcements about this soon.

Our new website

We have now also launched our new website, which provides more user-friendly information on Tupu Tonu activities, including investment acquisitions and documents (such as Annual Reports).  Click here to view homepage

The website also includes functions for hapū to provide feedback to Tupu Tonu on Tukua (disbursements) and hapū engagement. We welcome any feedback you may have.
